These guys aren’t a “grunge” band. They formed in 1981 which was about 10 years before the media created the word “grunge.” I love soul asylum. All of their songs are so addictive. I hope I can see them live soon!

@hmcgill911 Wow, I don’t know what to tell you. They’re a totally average band; never edgy, never influential. You may *personally* like them a LOT (obviously) – but if you’re writing a 300 page book on important rock music, you probably don’t have room for Soul Asylum because there are so many bands that *changed* the sound or played really well or wrote wayyy better songs than these guys. That’s cute that they still put out mediocre records for nostalgic fools like you to buy.
@aidanday That is what makes them a great band because they are not a part of the main stream Bullshit that is on the radio now. Their latest album is actually a token to show that this band is by far more talented than many of their peers in the early 90s and double that to the trash on the radio.
@hmcgill911 You must be replying to a seriously old comment (I can’t remember listening to this in the last 6 months, that’s for certain) – but yeah – They’re always mentioned with Pearl Jam, Pumpkins and NIrvana as if they’re even 1/10th as important. Trust me, I was 15/16 when this was new. Soul Asylum were a beloved MN band that had a couple big hits and that’s it. They’re not like, a super-important band in Alt/Rock history lol.
@EmoZombie503 Soul Asylum was a Pre-grunge band. Grunge wasn’t even thought of until the 90s, these guys were rocking in the 80s. Their sound may have resembled grunge in some ways but other than that, I would put these guys in a group mixed with punk/hard core Rock.

The point is to make the browser less disruptive. If I’m listening to winamp or have ten browser tabs open, which I frequently do, I don’t want one of the tabs or a popup ad to suddenly start blaring at me. Muting the whole computer would kill the sounds that I do want to hear. There should be configuration options such as mute-all, mute new tabs, mute all but me, etc. so that users can control the sound coming out of the browser without affecting the rest of the computer.
