@umairyc i heard that in the chrome OS comps, you get like 16 Gbs worth of space to save it on your own computer. The rest of the stuff is saved to the cloud. or something across that line, i don’t quite remember

is this the future? everything stored on the internet? you don’t have privacy anymore? Theres no more cd, memory cards, hard drives? lets say someone hacks google’s network all of your data gone in seconds and no proof that you bought this or that. So in the future, the whole world will be a wifi zone or else your phone, laptop is useless
@bartoszbudz You have it COMPLETELY wrong. CrOS supports—and has supported since its inception–the playback of local content, e.g. saved PDFs or downloaded MP3s and videos. At the same time, it maintains a progressive outlook with its forward-thinking concepts and UI, to name only a few areas in which Chrome excels.

@iPoder9008 Okay I’ll admit the use cases are slim atm. Netbooks are meant to be portable and that means the internet won’t always be available. But I’m sure they’ll implement *proper* offline support for everything before this is released. (keep an open mind)
I defended this so much is because of how impressed I was with what they’ve done ‘under the hood’. And I’m sure if Google does decide to create an OS that would compete with Windows/Mac, they would kick Apple/Microsoft’s ass!
@shocklateboy Sorry but i disagree like one person said on here what if you don’t have internet then it’s pretty much useless not that the idea is bad it’s just impractical i mean i can see why people would want to use this but overall it just doesn’t work for every one like me who has weird internet it wouldn’t work for me

@bartoszbudz you could always store some music on a flash drive, or on your phone, this OS is not meant for people who do important things outside the web, the facebook, youtube crowd
It’s a good though but I don’t think it will be a hit. personally I just got to have a desktop where i can change the pictures and stuff like that. Great video thou.

@N0rthwestRadio So the best way to be sure that your data will be available when it’s gonna be needed is not to use the feature that makes COS different from any other OS? So what’s the point of having it? For people who are “more advanced” users it is another thing to worry about (Is my data on my HDD or in the Internet now?). It is simple, that’s for sure, but I’m just not convinced that it’s the best solution. And what will you do when particular server with your data will be down?
@bartoszbudz What makes you think it can not store data? Perhaps you do not understand that it only hard stores the main components such as browser and etc. You can still save anything you like. The fact is, for most people, this makes computers a whole lot more powerful, even though its simplified. For folks like gamers and developers, that is another store, but they are not the masses. What COS does is make a computer, out of the box, that does what 90% of people do, without all the overhead.

you’re better off to get a decent linux distro like ubuntu or mint than chrome because if you’re offline then you won’t be able to do anything like listen to music
