Cloud computing is undoubtedly the future of computers for the masses : fast computer, secured datas, stable system (apps and services being reduced to the minimum), no maintenance and always up-to-date apps. The main advantage for me is that the system is no more managed by the customer after the purchase, but by qualified technicians, during the whole lifetime of the computer and the datas.
Finally, computers will be as stable as they were dreamed by their conceptors. But be careful of TOS…
@IHateMyNickname Except you wouldn’t be able to fake a update for software you didn’t write in the first place. It still needs to be accepted in the chrome web store.
That’s great Google. so what it means is that the updater runs on “admin rights” behind the scenes and the user doesn’t even know what he’s installing, …. so if I can “fake” a “web app update” I can infect a computer even before the user finds out a new software has been installed, now THATS a security flaw
I had this same idea, I still stand by my statement that future of all Linux platforms, of all operating system platforms in general is to not bother people about constant updates, but just update as a certain website would “just” update.
I even tweet-ed this idea back in past … bit . ly/dMDtJr
Chrome OS got the idea, and is far ahead of competition OS out there, not to even mention moving OS to “Cloud” idea.
You can knit with a computer now?
ummm isnt this just a knock-off of wats it called WINDOWS 7!
What if you want iTunes or something like it?…..
Nice idea though.
@IHateMyNickname Not as simple as you seem to think it is.
@Requisition As simple as faking the google store with a man in the middle attack
@IHateMyNickname Where do you think it checks for an update? The Google store.
@Requisition Actually the computer only needs to assume that theres a update available, the update DOES NOT has to come from the google store
@Omg1Sub yes you can
can this play runescape?it uses java and is browser supported.
OMG, how cool!!!! I hate reading all those updates thingy.
Chrome OS= for people who are almost all day on facebook and dosent know anything about a computer…

Why is this called a notebook? It should be called a netbook, cause that’s the only things it does
@IHateMyNickname Except no, not really. lol
How the fuck is that old lady in the rocking chair typing like that?!
Okay the whole cloud updates is a great idea!! its totally like bringing cloud gaming to the pc OS world which is pretty awesome!
From the cloud, they’re creative with names

No doubt, they’ll employ digital signatures, which are essential to every known secure software update mechanism.

Too bad, It’s only for US residents.
@NamelessNLS
who wants to work on a netbook? you better ask who does not do word processing these days…
I applied for the pilot ! lol Cool!
@NamelessNLS That would depend on which COD you’re using. If you’re using one with a Nvidia Ion you can actually play COD 4.
