Chrome plating consists of applying a thin layer of chromium on a steel, copper or other base metals, to obtain a protective and decorative surface. Hard chrome
Unlike the other types hard chrome is not used to give a decorative surface, but to be a very long-lasting protective coating for pistons, hydraulic rods, cylinders and other engine parts. Chromium is thicker than the designs make a strong protective layer coated.
The electroplating process
Before the object can be coated must be thoroughly removed by degreasing the cleaning manually to any dirt and impurities to be cleaned. Sulfuric acid or other strong acids are also used.
