In his first live on-site collection of open-source Mozilla developers since the organization was founded last July, the Mozilla Foundation presents Developer Day on Friday, February 25.2004 at its Mountain View, CA, Central .
As an open source project based on the Mozilla Foundation, a living community of volunteer developers for its continued success. Foundation’s staff and contributors from around the world gather to learn to work together, exchange ideas, and on the future direction of the Mozilla project and its initiatives.
AA? WeÂÂ? again gather our community together to celebrate our progress and development initiatives, AA? Said Chris Hofmann, Mozilla FoundationÂÂ? s Director of Engineering. AA? WeÂÂ? Re going on a course for what we think, set the most important things to do over the next few quarters are to take our development to the next level.ÂÂ?
A number of critical issues will be addressed at Developer Day:
An update on the activities of the Mozilla Foundation itself will be delivered by Mitchell Baker, the FoundationÂÂ? s president and Chris Hofmann.
Brendan Eich, Mozilla projectÂÂ? S Chief Architect, will conduct a survey and discussion at the round table of the Mozilla Roadmap.
Mozilla QA lead Asa Dotzler will be leading discussion on QA and testing.
A discussion of other Mozilla applications, status and direction of Ben Goodger and Scott MacGregor, the project manager for the new Mozilla Firefox web browser and Thunderbird mail client, or be led.
A variety of other presentations will be provided by members of the Mozilla development community on topics such as creation of rich Web services applications with the Mozilla platform.
AA? We want clear direction, where the project forward and get up to all the work that needs to be done, AA will be fed? said Chris Hofmann.
The difference between a closed proprietary development process and the freedom and innovation of the open source model is one of the foundations of MozillaÂÂ? s Developer Day. Open source, open collaboration and free exchange of ideas, what this event is.
The Mozilla project is riding a wave of business, media and consumer praise for the Mozilla 1.6 Internet suite and recently released Technology Previews of organizationÂÂ? s next-generation browser, Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird e-mail application. For example, to one million people downloaded Mozilla 1.6 in the first 20 days after it was published and an even larger number have downloaded Mozilla Firefox 0.8, as on 9 February was published closed. The fast-growing demand for Mozilla applications continue to showcase its innovation strength and quality open source development model.
A webcast of the event will be made available after its completion further allows access to other Mozilla community of developers and contributors.

Mozilla 1.6 and technology can preview editions of Firefox and Thunderbird can be downloaded from www.mozilla.org. Alternatively, users can issue a CD from the Mozilla projectÂÂ purchase? S web site. Mozilla applications on a variety of operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and are translated into dozens of languages.
Mozilla applications are free and all source code and documentation is freely available for download under the open source Mozilla Public License.
