(openPR) 9 February 2004 The Mozilla Foundation today announced the immediate availability of a new pre-release version of next-generation Web browser, Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox 0.8 represents the very latest Internet technology and raises the bar for usability, performance, robustness and standards compliance.

The new release is an important milestone on the development roadmap towards the highly anticipated version 1.0 of Mozilla projectÂÂ? Next-generation Web browser. New in this version include:

A powerful new download manager that makes tracking multiple downloads;
Numerous improvements to bookmarks handling, making it easier than ever to keep the track of your favorite websites;
Improved handling of extensions – small, light browserÂÂ to download applications that can be installed with a few simple mouse clicks and extend the functionality of S?. Community members have more than 200 such extensions, including add-ons to remove banners, add spell checking functionality, and add the possibility, Amazon.com, eBay or other popular sites from the Firefox search toolbar created;
An easy to use installer for Microsoft Windows users;
A new default theme for Mac OS X users that integrates seamlessly with the OS X desktop environment.

The new release also marks a name change for the new browser that was previously known as Mozilla Firebird. AA? To avoid overlap with other open-source project, we have also decided to change the name of this product from Mozilla Firebird, Mozilla Firefox.ÂÂ?
