    Br =======================< / Design>
    Equipment = ============= =========< br />
Construction] [: The surface of the N900 is a sleek black matte finish. The accumulation of material is aluminum, steel and rubber or plastic. The N900 fits easily into a pocket, being smaller than the N810, but it is much thicker than most phones. The four components are the front status light, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and camera with VGA. It is a consumer infrared port (universal remote), the strap option and not put a pencil. The removable rear contains the main camera, the SIM card, battery and the microSDHC slot. On removal requires a little strength, but it is comforting to know that does not fall.

[related]: The keyboard is on your side with a sliding mechanism smoothly, without springs provides a solid feel. The three-row keyboard is, backlit keys rubber surfaces. The keys are more difficult to use devices with round keys, but still easier than the keyboard. While the speed of 35-40 words per minute is realistic, it is difficult for extended use. You can connect a USB keyboard or Bluetooth, joystick, mouse, and even a Wii Remote.

[] TV-OUT: The output resolution of 480i TV that uses an included 3. 5 mm jack with 4 rings. It is common ground, left and right audio and composite video. Useful for watching movies, playing or doing work that requires a large screen.

[DISPLAY]: The color of 16 million dollars, 800×480 pixel is incredible. It is pressure sensitive, transflective 15:9 aspect, making the screen easier to see in direct light. It uses a resistive touch screen that allows use with surprisingly sensitive gloves, nail or a pencil. The ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness. The absence of heavy multi-touch “whirlwind” in certain gestures of software, but is generally not a big problem.

[Photo]: The main unit is a Carl Zeiss 5MP, the same as the Nokia N97. It comes with a sliding cover to protect the lens mounted. There is also a front-facing webcam 640×480. The camera interface is the same as the S60. The picture quality is sharp, skin tones are bright and there is very little, if any, chromatic aberration on the edges. The device uses the accelerometer that the photograph image viewer can display the image “up” However, the N900 is made. Take a photo of portrait and landscape, and it will be small. Switch off and fill the screen. There are the following modes: Auto, Macro, Portrait, Landscape, Action and video of vehicles. The camera can take 848 × 480 resolution video at 25 frames per second. The video quality is great, recording an impressive 3000 kb / s, but the rate usually decreases at 20fps and the audio has a sensitive tone metal. The device also works with Adobe Flash.

[CPU]: CPU clock is ARM-based TI OMAP 3430 to 600 MHz speed of 500 MHz, but can be overclocked. Some forums Maemo users were able to climb to 1. 2GHz. This allows better performance with the media, high resolution games / emulators and web browsing among many others. Overclocking requires downloading a modified kernel with the desired speed. Usually available in stock 50Mhz at 800 MHz and 850 MHz. Then, just launch downloads fiasco-image-update. While overclocking generally reduces the battery life, most nuclei also provide underclocks of battery life that allows idling N900 uses much less energy when not in use, the result Net is often expanded. Like Nokia, overclocking voids the warranty. Since the N900 has no active cooling heat generated by overclocking can significantly shorten the lifetime of the N900 is if pushed too far. N900 units are unique, each a different speed. Until now, when the series seems to overclock very well.

[Battery]: The battery is a 1320mAh Nokia BL-5J, 22% smaller than the BP-4L. A full battery with optimized parameters is not possible to obtain 5-9 hours of talk time, 5 hours of music or a few hours of 3G. 3G / 3. 5G drains the battery faster than Wi-Fi Reduce the brightness, remove desktop widgets, and disabling GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G easily triple the battery life. Charging is via microUSB which takes about 4-5 hours for a discharged battery. A problem with the USB port last minute has been recognized by Nokia as a design control, caution is recommended when connecting / disconnecting devices to mitigate this problem. The cycle of “complete” method of some use to assess the laptop batteries are multicellular, but the N900 has only one battery so it is useless and harmful marginal full discharge cycles because it there is nothing to calibrate.

[INTERNAL MEMORY]: The N900 has two memory chips. The first is a 32GB EMMC: 768 MB of virtual memory (swap), 2 GB for the configuration and software (ext3 / home), the last ~ 26GB (mydocs) is the only file (no software license.) The second chip is 256 MB of NAND memory (RAM) used for the bootloader, kernel and rootfs, double the N810. Eventually, several giga-bytes are used for online maps Ovi localized, useful in areas without data coverage.

] [In Memory expansion: The N900 has a microSDHC slot, hot swappable in the rear panel. He supports microSDHC cards up to 32GB of any kind. The cable can connect the N900 to a PC for easy transfer of files to allow the N900 to act as a hard disk, but only "mydocs" is available.
    > [GPS ] Maps GPS is a real GPS and assisted GPS the most. data corrected by cold weather is about 10-40 seconds with an accuracy as good as the Nokia N97. preloaded Ovi cards are available for connection data is not required. GPS off-line generally works well, albeit slow, but because a mistake can leave the cards in the engine can request a connection even when the maptiles are loaded. Ovi Maps uses GPS to display information Local weather. Navigation and Mapping with Ovi Maps is free, but there is no step by step voice navigation. Low 1. 0 version because it is the first version of the maps of Maemo Ovi explain the lack of features it has compared to 3. 0 version available on Symbian. Omissions is the inability to save routes, and the inability to find a contact address.

[FM Transmitter ]: FM Transmitter offers integrated audio device in the radio frequency so you can tune a radio frequency and play media files wirelessly N900. It works as advertised, but must be very close to the radio.

[RADIOS]: The radio signal strength is weak 3G N900. You can turn off without turning off the cellular radio Wi-Fi/Bluetooth to go offline manually and allow either . The N900 can use another 3G phone as a modem via Bluetooth, but it is difficult to install. Bluetooth DUN and PAN modes are supported by the software community. Advanced WLAN security, such as various types of EAP ( EAP-PEAP, EAP-MSCHAPv2, etc.), certificates of different encryption systems (RSA, 3DES, SHA, etc.) and “authority” (algorithms such as X. 509, SHA1RSA) are all supported. With Bluetooth DUN The detention is compatible.

[AUDIO]: The stereo speakers are strong, but lacks bass. They are a portable radio acceptable. Use Bluetooth headsets. Quality the audio. 3 5 mm connector is strong and a little more “before” sounds like the more “relaxed” or “polite” sound of other smartphones, but the maximum response, valleys or ripples that if often the critical March 1000 Region Hz Audio sounds more “current” than other similar devices. earphones contain a sign something dirty. whistle higher frequency, loss of detail and vibrance vibrant and superficial, lacking weight and depth. tangles of cables feel as they relax over time.

    =================== ==== =

Software ========================< br /> < br /> orientation [screen] Most of the software and the N900 main interface which only works in landscape mode. The only time you can switch to portrait mode, it is time to move or receive a phone call. Take the phone in portrait mode, the keyboard is opened automatically after a delay. Portrait mode for the browser is unofficially available by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Or. orientation of third party software is at the discretion of software developer.

[WEB BROWSER]: Internet experience is impressive, perhaps the best in a device this size. The web browser and fully supports Adobe Microb Flash, applets, video and provide a fast, full Web experience. zoom Tapping and where he played center. Make a circular motion gradually zoom. Move your finger on the left of the screen produces a cursor mouse for web sites that require such operation. The Flash version is 9.. 4 10. 1 is confirmed for Q2 2010. A lot of Flash games to play well, but the keyboard may be questionable. Unfortunately, some Flash applets still works after closing the browser and download the battery. The simplest solution is to reboot the system. Microb is based on Firefox uses Gecko, Webkit browser are also available for free.

[COPY Y] PASTA: Copy and paste the text is allowed in all menus and text boxes.

[social] networks: The N900 comes with utilities for Using Twitter and Facebook. social presence is a global service, once connected, the contact list is updated in real time, no need to run “Contacts.” MI support MSN, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, IRC and more also available via Pidgin. Video calls can be made via IP using Google Talk. Email supports Mail for Exchange (including 2003) and IMAP/POP3. Nokia / Ovi offers push e-mail messaging for maximum 10 accounts simultaneously, including webmail and maintains separate accounts. Skype calls can be made using 3G.

productivity []: This includes Documents To Go, an suite of applications to open MS Office documents. A free version is only open Office files and a version to create and edit Office files. Full versions of AbiWord and OpenOffice are freely available.
< , br /> [Media Player]: Work Media Player, but it can be challenging. This includes some 720p trailers showing the speed of the N900 and display incredible. Codec is the clear support and testing of “full support “of the media can be a stuttering disaster. The media player is fine for music, but could use some polishing, the lack of an equalizer was a surprising omission, for example. There are also community media players like VLC available.

[PHONE]: As the phone N900 has some significant shortcomings. By default there are only two profiles editable, but new profiles can be created a free tool called Tweakr. The beginning of the rotation of the phone’s interface has a few moments. There is no way to filter and organize the recording of calls and call duration is not recorded. No dialing feature is not possible to send SMS or access the configuration screen of the phone device. The proximity sensor opens so that poor randomly screens in your pocket and no contact support key. On the positive side, call quality and signal strength is excellent. MMS is not officially supported, but the RPM software community offers all the features.

    ====================== Operating System == ========

    ================< br />
;] [interface: The interface is polished and smooth OS. You can scan 360 degrees at four positions Working with your choice of widgets, shortcuts and wallpapers, easily zoom in and out of open applications. The interface is very fast and sensitive, but it may stutter. When a dialog box opens, the implementation blurs behind him as the frosted glass. All the context menus pop-ups are dismissed by clicking outside the menu.

[Multitasking] multitasking is phenomenal. You can run all applications, with no signs of slowing. Taskswitching thumbnail to show what each program. The active program window to minimize all open programs are visible at the same time. Then, a window can be closed with the X in the corner in any order.

[Technical]: The default value is N900 Maemo 5 OS. Maemo started in 2005 by Nokia is based on Debian. Maemo will merge Upcoming Intel Moblin OS create Meego. Nokia has declared its readiness to support the N900 with Meego. Maemo supports updates in the air, and all software is available free via software repositories defined by the user. Apt -get works well. Maemo with no process of approving applications. The platform is open and free, ensuring a strong community of developers and network Maemo. The current amount of the Maemo software is quite limited compared to other platforms forms, but growing, especially in the software sector offers Ovi Shop. Maemo 5 is upward compatible with Maemo. 4 1 software but is rather limited.

[Alternatives]: The N900 does not require signed kernel which means that other systems can be installed as Mer, Nitdroid and Debian. Images can be launched with a flash memory card or multi-boot on a desktop computer.
    ;
[SHELL]: out of the box is a real Linux shell with root access. You can install sshfs and mount shares from a server or even insert a kernel module. The missing letters on the keyboard is accessible with Ctrl + Fn. Busybox vi and nano are grouped by default.

[Development] POSIX Maemo provides an environment that allows use as a UNIX system with the original software. It is useful for * NIX developers, because it opens many possibilities. There are a number of different languages, with more to come. GUI development is done using standard toolkits GTK and Qt Linux. Python is also available. The implementation of Python N900 is not silent, graphical user interfaces can be created with popular toolkits PyGTK and PyQt. Important as there are many developers who already know how to write applications N900, but do not know yet.

  2. TrekGeek says:

I got my N900 a few days ago Nokia USA. For purposes of this review, I will compare with my previous phone, the HTC G1. My opinions are based solely on the user experience of these days with the N900, and I’ve never had an iphone, I will not compare them.

    * Physical Design The N900 is a very sturdy phone, and rightly so. While having some weight to him, the N900 is solid and well constructed. The black metal ring is a nice touch without being too showy. The blade is assisted by the spring, but gives a Nice click when opening and closing. I have not noticed any creaks or wobbles on the screen. Few have complained about the back is difficult to open. Really, I’d rather have peace of mind knowing that the battery will not open if I’m past it (God forbid), N900 is similar in size to G1, but is slightly thicker, not a
problem for me .* I do not really understand all these stories on screen resistive and capacitive. The N900 screen is gorgeous and is incredibly bright. There is some “give” to the screen, but I’m having problems with it. The screen is very sensitive and allows the angular displacement. I had some difficulties to click on links in the browser small, but because the index is not exactly the most accurate device for pointing. This was easily solved by the zoom (more on that later).
    * The keyboard is very good. It’s a different experience from the G1 (that you write with your chin “on the road to the right) so naturally, he felt better. The keys have a rubber sticky feel to them, and even smoosh the buttons are next to each other (like a real keyboard) with good response. I miss the 5-row keyboard on the G1, and I do not understand why the N900 screen does not open a little longer . For those with larger hands may be a little uncomfortable. However, a plus for the N900 is that my thumb did not have to travel so far to type.
    * J love the placement of speakers on the sides of the phone, unlike back in G1. I do a lot of talk on the speaker, and I am not obliged to turn upside down during a call. The Sound quality is good and the speakers are decent.

    Maemo 5 /
Software * This is the latest adaptation of the operating system. When open source is concerned, it really meant. The 4 workstations it much easier to navigate. For example, a page is dedicated to my regular phone contact, other useful applications, the third has markers for common sites (pages home links are previewed on the desktop, for your information), and so on.
    * How to run multiple tasks at the Maemo is ingenious. The overview “page where you can see all your active program delivery makes navigation between windows and programs very easily and efficiently. One thing to note is that you can close some of these windows at its option, compared to G1, where the limit of 6 application does not open or close them, which is very slow, especially during Reviews (text messaging someone directions when running GPS).
    * SMS (called Maemo speak) is very similar to G1, but added step – whether in negotiating text, instant messaging or by the same person shown in the same window. The possibility of having the image of the contact person in the text box (for example, if you have configured for that person) is a nice touch. Personally, I do not care about MMS, so no complaints.
    * The email client is pretty decent, I can configure my Gmail account in a few simple steps, but is not as accessible as Gmail on the G1. For example, I have not found a way to delete incoming e-mail when it first comes into play I have to leave the letter, go to the inbox, again in the mail, delete it.
experience comparable to the computer, and nothing less than remarkable. full flash means that pages can access full YouTube, among others. I think the turning point zoom ‘gesture is quite clean, and allows me to click on the links small. I realized that using the index zoom in turn produces the best results. Alternatively, you can Double-click on the screen or the volume rocker. Go to the previous page not only lets you go to the last page, but scroll through the history of this window. Neat.
    * Application-wise , not much there, but I’m sure many will be in shortly. You can also access Maemo deposits for more (Google him), but shows that many of them are still in development and are potentially dangerous to your phone. Applications emphasize Hermes (connects social sites like Facebook to your contacts so you can get phone numbers, dates of birth, etc.) and Qik (live recording).
    Hardware />
    * Hurry, hurry, hurry. Need I say more?
    * N Hang Ups, however, because it can close applications on my own will.
    * Camera is good, it’s a 5MP camera phone. Not compared to a dedicated camera, but is more effective to take pictures quickly to get on facebook.
    * The FM transmitter is an excellent complement. Now I can share songs without having to find an auxiliary cable.
    * The battery seems to last a little over a day with a little text and the Internet . WiFi all the time when I’m home. My G1 is reduced to about 70% by noon.

Of course, no phone or mobile device is perfect. Here are some things that caught my attention:
    * The volume rocker is on the right side (vertical), which means it is almost impossible to use a zoom when the screen is in place. The same thing applies to the switch, which is at the bottom (horizontal). It would have been much better in the wings, it would be easier to lock after a phone call, for example.
    * Copy and paste is a little sporadic. Although you can copy what you want in web pages, I could not copy a phone number of a contact to another on the agenda .
    * The post is good, but is pulled too deep and it feels a little bit. I’m afraid I will break one day.
    * Support small picture from now but I think it will be fixed soon.

So there you have it. My impressions of the N900. There is still much exploration to do, but I can honestly that is the best phone or mobile device that I had. Despite some shortcomings, its an amazing piece of technology. Many things I did not mention probably be set at a firmware or two there a problem. Hope this helps anyone who is on a fence to buy one, good luck!

  3. I pre-ordered my N900 when he learned that in September. And I waited patiently, and waited, watching all demographic groups, preview and review I could find. With each passing day, I knew I was moving closer to happiness. And one day, my N900 has arrived.

    It’s sad, but really not.

Vista (briefly) owned a N97, I was extremely disappointed that Nokia has addressed the most difficult elements of your Symbian phone port for Maemo platform. Once you’ve spent the effects (admittedly impressive) screen, the N900 feels strangely similar to the N97 in terms of use.

“Mail does not respond. Quitting smoking?
” If you use email, you will see this message. By using the Mail for Exchange features include IMAP and is painful, to say the least. If you come from another Symbian phone, you will discover that the Mail is so slow and limited that old phone, but it works (marginally) better delivery of HTML messages. If it comes from something like an iPhone or BlackBerry, forget it. Have an iPhone 3G and the BlackBerry Bold and messaging on the N900 is frustrating.

The screen is beautiful, in terms of the resolution. It is garbage in terms of accuracy, if you do not use the stylus. I do not have huge fingers, and yet, almost all tap water is either misinterpreted or not registered. Using the angular displacement inevitably open something that had the intention to open or do anything. You will find you ask “Can I touch once or twice?”.

Surf the Internet? Brilliant. Seriously. The included web browser is as good as everyone says. render the pages correctly, does Flash, zoom in and out is excellent. If you want a simple web browser pocket and nothing else, I would recommend this ten times ten.

“But it runs Linux! Linux, Linux, Linux!”
Sure. I consider myself fairly platform agnostic regarding phones, and frankly, the “open” nature of Maemo is like a red herring. Yes, applications for a maximum of N900 are not blessed by Nokia is relatively easy. Yes, you can compile OpenOffice to work on the N900. The real question is: “Would you?”. In many ways, I can see how the N900 is an excellent tool if I was a Unix / Linux admin who wanted the opportunity to work anywhere, without a laptop or netbook. And there is some credibility geek who has done something for the sake of it, especially when you have a platform phones. The N900 is perfect for these things. And keep in mind that, in large part to the target audience with the Nokia N900.

For more than a decade, Nokia has been known for its strong performance and signal quality of the voice . With the N900, once again, were short. 3G call quality is decent. If you’re outside a 3G area (which is likely if you use this with T-Mobile, and a certainty if you are in AT & T), the N900 has struggled to maintain a decent signal GPRS / EDGE, and dropped calls are common. It is true that the functionality of the phone is something like an afterthought in this model of Nokia individual – but it really shows.

As for carrying around, the N900 is not “brick” some have claimed it to be. It is certainly important, compared to other phones available, but it is not unreasonable to carry in a pocket. The multimedia functionality is above average, able to play virtually any type of music and film format could throw at it . The camera, while decent, is not much better than what you find in most mediums of high end phones in terms of image quality.

In general , The N900 is a great number of advantages and disadvantages. For a lot of “do not …” There are solutions or solutions, or may be solutions. And it’s really the heart of my qualifications . The hardware itself is not very special for a phone that costs so much. And if gaps can be addressed, but do have to question how much time and effort you’re willing to put this device in raise the same level as alternatives same price range. Meanwhile, there are many illusions, if they are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the development work. “Maybe Nokia will address this problem in an update … “Or” Maybe someone will write a script or program that does this … “This will be your mantra if you do the job yourself. < br />
    *** *** Update />

was considered to be completely re-written this review, but too many questions still true.

    What is different:

new N900 is much more stable and not crash too often as previously described. That does not mean it does not crash, but with the latest hardware and firmware, no longer hangs if you look the wrong way.

The developer community is very active in the Maemo platform, and it did not take long for some applications to large. His installation is not a patch on what you are on a Android phone or iPhone, but if you’re familiar with CVS / SVN or you can follow simple directions, make deposits is very easy, as is finding an interesting software. I am particularly pleased to see open source projects like Pidgin and Keepass acted so quickly.

    What is the same:

E is still pretty terrible, especially if you have an inbox great. Get the number of messages to make the application more responsive, however, is still far from what you see on smartphones that compete in all major platforms. Also inexplicably not updating (yes , fanboys, even when set at maximum), and the last update “rarely corresponds to reality.

operating system must be improved. Case in point: Just do not do a good job of telling you it is busy. Of course, nobody wants to build an hourglass (or spinning beach ball) for your operating system, but there are times when the operating system is bogged down only when you are positive the screen is not recording of taps.
< , br /> All things being equal, I still hold to my original conclusion that the N900 is not for the public to search for the iPhone iPhone. But for someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, the N900 can be an amazing device for gadget enthusiasts Unix geeks and hard-core.

Oh. . . and a little advice: This car charger works very well with the N900, and is very cheap: P513 Motorola car charger adapter rapid rate MicroUSB

  4. Murugeyson says:

It is very simple. I love this phone. Now, one day, I am not easily excited or impressed by a phone. A couple of years, had a set of model change every four to six months. But now, the Xperia X1, I bought last December and I do not see a dramatic improvement in the last year.

And to start with the N900 was not even on my radar a few months ago. I was too busy drooling over the HD2 and X10. Since both are about 6 months before (at least some states). I turned my attention to N900 and I am very impressed. I feel like I did 4-5 years ago with a smart phone that can surf the Web and check email.

A board if, in fact a couple. Stay away from this phone as a phone. Think of it as an Internet tablet with a capacity of phone. So I do not replace your iPhone or Android movable property.

    Put this way,
    1. You’re never going to get about 10,000 applications for it.
    2. You do not get the pleasure of the eyes or a touch screen capacitive
    3. Nothing else will be presented. Do not enter your Gmail username and see that the phone is
    4. This is not an iPod. This is a multimedia device for the views

But 1. The resistive touch screen is not bad. In fact, is one of the best I’ve used. Take my word, this is not a deal breaker. Just do not expect the response iPhoneish
    2. I love the screen. A rare, with 16 million colors and it shows. It has a 480×800 screen and a 4 ‘desktop’. Love takes the wallpaper 480×3200.
    3. Love and the integration of Skype IM. The first time the phone rang, it took me 5 minutes to do it via Skype.
    4. The browser and the Flash support is legendary. Okay, it’s unbelievable. But keep in mind this is not v10, v9 its still
    5. The keyboard is good and it feels good too. But they need time to adapt to the space bar right aligned
    6. No iPhone. God thank you for that.
    7. phone quality seems solid and built is first class.
    8. It has 32 GB and a Micro SD slot.

    Few other things, namely “Edit
01/21/2010> 1. Cam is not as impressive
    2. BT is almost unusable. The speaker is turned off (which included calls and alarms) when connected to a headset. You must use the seeded any time or wait for the missed calls and meetings.
~ ~ This has been corrected in the latest software update
2a. The phone is often off the headset after a call and need to reset the headset to connect again.
~ ~ This has been corrected.
    3. Exchange server setup is a pain in the wrong place
    3a. exchange is not compatible
Google 3b. Nuevasync but works well with electronic timing weeks more than usual 2. Get a server not responding message if set to anything more than 2 weeks.
~ ~ 2003 also now supports MFX. I have not tried google but nothing yet that would support. But Nuevasync works well
    4. Full implementation off Skype is not yet ready
    5. Ovi Store N900 is not ready ~ ~ Ovi store is open
    6. N900 is not added to Ovi services (such as contacts, calendar and other)
    ~ ~ not yet supported.
    7. Not very impressed by the way ~ ~ Ovi
Map Ovi been a slight improvement, but the tower has recently announced support back freedom of navigation is not coming to an N900 from now .
    8. Messaging Nokia is nice but I prefer native support IMAP Idle (push email for IMAP servers)
~ ~ The IMAP support is inactive missingg
    8. Messaging Nokia is very slow. Opening the local folder as shown above. Even downloaded mail and not appear immediately. You have about 5 seconds to get everything going.
~ ~ We have given this. Now, it is quite bearable. takes about 1-2 seconds to open a new phone.
    9. Do not use the widget to Facebook, which drains the battery like no tomorrow. In reality, as if in no
afternoon 10. Although the list is growing demand, and still only 50 or more requests.
    11. There is no native support for voice google
    11. The phone can not be used in portrait mode. Except for the marker. For me, this is not a problem. In fact, I love only works in the landscape.
    Conclusion />
This phone has great potential, but many features. It is both software and hardware. For example, why there is no capacitive screen? why not bigger battery, why there is no support IDLE? Why can not synchronize Exchange Server messages via Google? Why Nokia messaging is so slow? Why can not synchronize more than 2 weeks Nuevasync mail?

These can be answered in an update of software and models (which have already announced that 2010 will see an update) will be much more refined.

I feel that this phone is not for the masses, but if you’re a fan of gadgets and need a new solution from time to time, you can not do anything wrong with this phone. Get your eyes closed.

They are looking for a replacement iPhone, please keep looking. This is not for you.

PS: I lost my N900 this week for a second I thought of the Nexus 1, but still decided to get this.

  5. Edward Brown says:

I had 4 Nokia smartphones and some others. From the outset, is a phone that is fun to use, but I would wait a bit before buying this phone. Very few applications available for it, the touch screen is a bad mood, it comes w / only 1 bell. In short, was removed from the assembly line soon, but it is remote upgrade and has a great potential.

A complete list of features. Mention of them take some time. I only know that is packaged and not more than others. The stand-out: Mozilla, 4 workstations active, touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard and stylus equipment and handwriting recognition, FM transmitter, 32 GB, quality construction. Unfortunately, there are as many other applications for Maemo, as there is for Symbian or Apple. With just a phone with great Maemo, I’m not sure how come.

The N900 is a very solid phone * *. For a unit w / a slide mechanism is built like a bank safe – no squeaks or rattles. Sober, matte black, well equipped, bright screen. It is incredibly fun to use and the big screen is a winner.

If you have never used a smartphone before, is likely to be dazzled by the versatility and flexibility of configuration. If you have never had a high-end phone, you’ll fall in love w / the camera, video, web and the large number of functions. There are many things to love (to compare with another phone on GSMArena.) As a smartphone user known, I will detail my cons below.

To be fair, the N-Series models are to have their own specialties. The N82 is the camera, therefore, xenon and publishing. The N900 has to do with the Web and make it exceptionally well. However, the browser crashes more often than any other smartphone I’ve used. In addition, each page is loaded as you would on a desktop, so that the browser is done. (Again, is not ready for production). The web and social networks is the high end. Unlike Symbian phones, the N900 is very easy to configure.

CALENDAR / ALARM: Contrary to previous N-Series, calendar alarms do not sound if the phone is off.

Photo / Video: The N900 has no photo editing software, a single crop and program coverage. It is a shame for a device that offers videos of this quality. 5MP and Zeiss. . . but no editor? The N900 offers no video editor either. This is part of training for iPhones and Blackberries, but the N-series have always had video editing functions. You can not cut and paste video and text overlay.

Keyboard: N900 wide, it is difficult to type quickly. Since there is no space between keys, attention should be paid when entering text. Introduction of numbers / symbols sometimes requires typing while holding the key number. I am currently able to enter text much faster on the N82, with the broad, N900 stuck keys. Although many mechanisms for text entry, text input on the N900 is awkward. The virtual keyboard is actually better than the hardware keyboard, but requires more attention. I would not have imagined a teachable T9 would be faster than both QWERTY.

Touch Screen: The touchscreen is easy to get used and are not as demanding as a cursor, but are blingy. Lesser of unequal pressure, shock or inconsistency in the neck and which is to open an application. 90% of the time, you can use the stylus, that even the smallest fingers misfire. You have this phone very heavy, with long strokes on the screen, a sliding QWERTY keyboard strokes juggling ow / stylus. However, it looks more like the team and it is fun to use. The big screen is the most time. . . QWERTY, not really.

2 HOUSE: The secondary camera is not working. Generally, these lenses are used for video calls second parts of Europe. In the States, can be used for oneself or MMS vids picture yourself quickly. With the N900, is simply a showcase. Very disappointing, but I’m sure there is an update on the road. Again, take the assembly line soon.

Image Recording and Bluetooth: When transferring photos to your phone via Bluetooth, there is no setting to enable automatic acceptance as w / other N- Series. In addition, the images transferred to the N900 via Bluetooth documents are on file, sometimes the video folder, rarely the images folder. The videos can appear in a folder on the camera. . . . Who knows?

OPERATION: Can not go on many applications. If you close a program in a file or program from the menu, you should begin to find this place.
    This boring.
The phone comes with a single chime, Nokia, unless you add more. I expect a phone of this price and size to have a working camera before and ringtones and call me crazy.

The camera flash is good, but this flash light is W PAR / older, less expensive Xenon N82. Again, each phone has its purpose. E-Series are for businesses, multimedia N-Series – some of the other webcams. All right. . . but at this price?

If a message arrives when you use the device, a small bubble appears w / name of the person and the first words of the message. . . then disappears. Nice touch.

GENERAL: The N900 is full of features, solid and very fun to use. This approach is an Internet tablet. . . but one that comes w / a high-end camera. To this end, certainly provides. For the price, however, I expected the N900 to include photo / video editing software, camera and document * before *. Editor if you want a full hardware w high-end phone QWERTY / better quality and a touch screen, see HTC. However, Nokia’s smart phones are the only (to my knowledge) does not require monthly payments of $ 25 PDA to access the network (such as BlackBerry, Palm, Apple will do). Thus, the N900 combines a fixed rate of T-Mobile for internet use can have unlimited internet for only $ 7 a month extra. Everything is a balance.

IPhone: The iPhone 3G is not really in the same league as this phone. Firstly, the iPhone is * not * a smartphone because you can not multitask. N-Series can play my music and view / edit photos, calendar, etc. This is what the N900 offers the iPhone 3G is not: 5 megapixel camera with flash 3 iPhone, iPhone round without flash, radio FM, FM transmitter (to play music wirelessly in your car, even if it has Bluetooth), memory card has a 16 GB, plays DivX Player, PDF, Flash 9. 4, hardware QWERTY stylus. . . Get the picture?

If this site is most important to you. . . I really want a big screen. . . QWERTY prefer. . . want a great camera / VCR. . . leaves many open applications and need lots of memory. . . and you do not want to do w / $ 25 Apple / Blackbery / HTC / Palm fees – the N900 is for you. . . but I would wait several months for more applications and updates.
