Question by no name now.: What exactly would be a shark jumping moment on a soap opera?
Most plots are given on a soap rather outrageous in comparison to their counterparts primetime drama, a soap opera can actually “Jump the Shark”? If so, how? How does the soap can get away with crazy stories could more than a prime-time show? Is it anything to do with the audience?

No, considering all the zany and sometimes totally unbelievable plots on the soaps, I don’t think it’s possible. I’ve never heard of a soap being cancelled because it went “too far”. Pretty much anything goes. I do think that soap fans are more accepting of outrageous s/ls and will stick with their shows no matter what.
As much as a soap opera fan complains of the s/l the actors etc…..we would are the first to defend are soaps.
i think that soaps have all jumped the shark at one time or another. Case in point: Days did twice with the pod people and by having Marlena killing off half of Salem, only to have them return on an island…
I miss the days of good old romance. Since Luke and Laura (my all time fave couple), adventure tends to go hand in hand with romance and sometimes the adventrue overshadows the romance. I fel that may be the reason soaps get a bad riap because of all the wild storylines
No, nothing surprises me anymore. I miss love in the afternoon so much!!
