Q&A: What do the ballerinas do in the Phantom of the Opera play?

Question by Kate K: What do the ballerinas do in the Phantom of the Opera play?
I have cast as a ballerina for The Phantom of the Opera at my high school in Idaho. I am wondering what to do the ballerinas? They have like a dance scene, or speaking / singing roles?

They dance in the opera within “The Phantom of the Opera”. They also sing chorus.

They are chorus. They sing in the background, and have three dance scenes. The first takes place in the hannibal rehearsal, the second takes place as a rehearsal while Meg and Christine sing in the dressing room, and the third is during Il Muto after Carlotta loses her voice.

They are also chorus and will likely be in all larger scenes including Masquerade, the Don Juan rehearsals, and the Don Juan scene itself.

They also have a scene where they only exist to be on stage and shriek a lot while Buquet tells them the story of the opera ghost.
