Question by Sandy M: I have Internet Explorer 7. What is the benifit of upgrading to internet explorer 8?
Calling all you geeks out there. I need some advice. I want to update Internet Explorer 7 IE 8 What are the benefits? My family all use Firefox and do not like Internet Explorer.

Honestly if you’re not a geek, you’re not going to see any additional benefits in IE 8 over IE 7. It may be more secure than 7, but there arent any big new features in it.

Nobody in their right mind is going to tell you to use any version IE, much less geeks.
Just use Firefox, it’s very flexible and customizable. Do not fear change! IE is for chumps.
many websites are going to upgrade along with it, so they might not display properly in ie7 in the future.i believe it also comes with a flash update,which again all websites will upgrade to.
its just keeping on the curve.

i downloaded it and it gave me problems with my norton security and i know another guy on here had the same problem he told me to go back to explorer 7 and it fixed it so i’ll be sticking with it for the time being from what ive heard from ppl is that it fairly new and that there is always problems in the beginning
I tested it out and I was dissapinted to say the least. Not much has changed in regards to loading up pages. It does startup faster, has better crash and tab handling, but still lags at times. Firefox 3 is far more stable.
If i were you, i wouldn’t waste the time upgrading it.
I did a couple of days ago, and i don’t see where it is any better than 7, for a matter of fact, i’m pretty sure it’s worse.
It is a little more secure, but that one detail doesn’t make up for the rest of it, which is a complete waste of time.
DON’T UPGRADE.
