I accidentally deleted my web browser on my mac laptop?

Question by Sarah: I accidentally deleted my web browser on my mac laptop?
Actually, I tried to delete the Web browser, Safari, on another user account on my laptop. But it just completely, also deleted my account. How can a Web browser without a web browser? I’ve tried to e-mail me the download for Safari, but that did not seem to work. Anyone else have any suggestions?

1) Down the Macintosh version of Safari with another computer and copy that file to the your Mac Notebook (net work, burn to CD, thumb drive, external hard drive).

.. or ..

2) Boot from the OS CD and reinstall everything. Be 100% positive that you select the option to install and archive, otherwise, you will wipe out everything.

If you have another computer, which I’m assuming you do since you could post this, you can download the Safari program from apple.com and use a flashdrive or other USB storage device to transfer it over to your Mac and install it.

Note: You do not have to reinstall the computer just because you deleted an application, there are other ways to do it without having to take the time and risk losing your data.

If that is not an option, use your OSX install disc, I am using 10.5 Leopard for the example, when the disc loads, you will find a folder inside it called “Optional Installs” open that, and there will be an icon that looks like an opened box, called again “Optional Installs” click that and follow the installation, after you agree to the terms, it will bring up a list of applications, if you click the arrow beside “applications” you will see safari there, check the box next to it, and continue the installation, that will put Safari back on your system, if you have a different version of OSX put that in the information, the “Optional Installs” could be in a different place in different version discs.

Remember, the applications are the same for every user, don’t delete them unless you want it to disappear for everyone.
