How do I prevent my Internet Explorer becomes itself after clicking on the red X?

I click the red X to close and the message “Internet Explorer is closing” then “Internet Explorer is restarting” and the page returns. What do I need to install or unstall to prevent this from happening? J ‘I click Cancel to get rid of Internet Explorer.
