Drop IE and go for Mozilla Firefox. Just google that and you get a free browser with automatic updates, a lot of customization, and that goes much smoother than IE.

When you upgrade to ie8 the windows update agent automatically adds a restore point you can roll back to. you can find the option in the control panel.

    Start
    control panel
    uninstall a program
find internet explorer 8 and uninstall it.

I’d recommend using firefox 3 instead. 10 times better.

    google free download.

Forget everything everyone as told you so far. Do get rid of IE8 as it is the worst browser ever. It even messes up McAfee.

I did this earlier this weekend after I found the following instructions on the net.

In Windows Vista, Windows Internet Explorer 8 is not considered to be a ‘program’. Instead, IE8 is categorizing as an ‘update’. Thus, users will not be able to find Windows Internet Explorer 8 in “Programs and Features” of Windows Vista.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, go to Control Panel, and click on Uninstall Programs link or Programs and Features icon.

Then on Tasks pane on the left, click on View installed updates link.

Locate and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the list of installed updates, and then click on Uninstall button.

Click on Yes when asked that are you sure want to uninstall the update.

After you have followed the sugested process, IE 8 will automatically roleback to IE7. You will not and do not need to download IE7

Right click on an internet explorer icon and go properties. After that you should be able to find the file location and then just delete it?

Then google search Internet Explorer 7 and install it

Check the installed updates list again. It should be there because Vista treats it as an update just like any other Windows update.
