Do you have any great tips for polishing chrome?

Question by cowgalutah: Do you have any great tips for polishing chrome?
I have a very old semi-truck and the tanks are in great structural condition, they just need some TLC. I have to wash with an acid and then started a round with Mother’s brand chrome polish and a buffer, but they do not have a finished look to them. They almost look as if the filthy Polish is in the scratch. What would you suggest?

Keep polishing until the scratches are gone. This may take a very long time. Then wipe of the tanks with a clean dry towel and flour. the flour will help to remove any polish residue left behind.
