Nairobi, Kenya (NYSE) 29 January 2008
Kenya is a popular destination but unrest in parts of the country safari after 27 December 2007 polls has seen a major drop in tourist arrivals which is possible hotel closures and the probability of a recession in the travel industry.
Sales Director of Shoor Travel, tour operator offering African safari and travel, Sanjay Shoor, says up to 85 percent of their customers have for their travels through Kenya announce the first quarter, while others opt for a Tanzania safari to Uganda Safari or and Zanzibar, where they still enjoy East Africa’s superb attractions.
This has the possibility of hotel closures and layoffs in Kenya as well as losses to local and foreign tour operators who offer Kenya as a safari destination, their customers out.
However, although some countries have not issued travel warnings discouraging travel to Kenya are required, customers, have ignored the warning still had a trouble-free holiday and it has no incident of a tourist, which directly affected by the violence. Britain has now travel to their warning, restrict only certain parts of the country relaxed.
This is because the unrest is political in nature and was largely limited only to parts of Kenya, away from tourist locations. It is hoped that the mediation efforts of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan led, is largely perceived to lead to a resolution and return to normalcy for a country the most stable in East and Central Africa.
Shoor Travel Ltd is an African safari operator in East Africa and offers a variety of travel services and packages.
