Google, stop putting the frame in chrome in my IE!

In September, announced that Google was developing a plugin for Internet Explorer that allows to make a page with Google Chrome if it contains a tag of a web developer said he wanted you can use. Why do developers do this? Google claims that Internet Explorer drag, kicking and screaming into the future to allow faster rendering engine JavaScript, CSS and HTML 5 and better management of the design.

When I started studying the basic technology for this move sound the alarm in the depths of the security center of my brain. Pages that use this tag will be ignored supplements designed to consume the contents of the IE rendering engine. See the sites through off Chrome Frame items as our Sophos web content scanning add-on that are designed to provide a boating experience of a user.

This was not the only one concerned, as much of the press said the response from Microsoft and Mozilla even two hundred rivals. Immediately we started getting requests from customers as well.

Colin Coulter animation company Aardman Contact Us asking Chrome Frame add to our list of controlled applications. John Stringer, our product manager who oversees the list of our applications, informed me that will actually be adding this plugin for our applications in controlled release next month.

Colin reaction to Chrome Frame adds another dimension to the debate on its impact on directors. In an e-mail Colin said: “It is our job as a helpdesk much more difficult. The concept of a browser equipped with a Web browser via a plug-in! Imagine trying to argue that if / when things go wrong? ”

The webification applications, standards that are evolving at a dizzying pace and mobility of users increasingly are creating a difficult environment for managers. No need to reach even more ways to increase the attack surface and creating nightmare scenarios support. I disagree with Mike Shaver, Mozilla when he suggested that users who want access to a faster browser and the content of art should be encouraged to use a better browser.

Mozilla has been victim of this problem when Microsoft created two plugins insecurity in Firefox earlier this year, without notice or authorization of users. Hijacking browsers browsers? Really? The simplest of our networks are the easiest to achieve. Google, please stop introducing more complexity. We expect better of you.
