Google went into space with your browser Chrome! I was pleasantly surprised that almost immediately after its launch, a link to download Google Chrome appeared on the search site Google is my default home page in my “version of Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) of browser.
Hesitant, not knowing how it will affect my desktop, I downloaded and installed on my operating system Windows Vista. It appears as a series of red, green and yellow icon on my desktop. The icon looked like the eye of a camera with a segmented shutter for adjusting the aperture which appeared as a blue dot in the center. The icon is a striking feature attractive seemed quite different than the blue “e” for Internet Explorer. One eye seemed to see the world through the Internet, which is what is supposed to be. Bravo for Google to mark the first time.
I clicked on the icon of Chrome. It opened its doors. Automatically imported my favorite places in it. I saw some links in the toolbar below the address window. There was a folder called “other bookmarks” at the end of the toolbar. I clicked on it and a menu open to show the rest of the favorites. After careful consideration, I found that only the sites of my folder “Links” has appeared on the toolbar, not the sites that were outside the folder “Links” in my bookmarks menu. I took a few minutes to organize the frequented sites on the toolbar and drag the other sites in the folder other markers. “But this also happened to me when I upgraded my IE7 to IE8. Projection important markers in the horizontal toolbar is a different characteristic of vertical sidebar IE7. But IE7 has also improved this feature in IE8 is now the same as Chrome.
I expected the Chrome to have Google Toolbar built, but was not. The Google Toolbar has links icon for Google Earth, Gmail and new, and has little search box. I’m used to his presence at the summit. I decided to download and install. The Chrome browser and Google Toolbar are both products of Google and I could never imagine that there is no Google Toolbar available for Chrome! But this was the case. When I clicked on the download button, it opened a site showing requirement of Firefox2 and there was no other choice for chromium. I am sure that sooner or later, Google will make this possible. But now, the IE8 scores higher than Chrome Google Toolbar!
The IE7 came with my pack of Vista and has long been linked to it Vista. I like the function of the opening of new tags with the IE7, which disappeared with IE6. I still have my computer with Windows XP that has IE6 and older. I am sure that many users may not even be aware that you can install IE7 and IE8 in Windows XP and now has the advantage of the functionality of tags without the need of Vista on your computer! Back to Chrome, the function of tag is just above the address bar and not below as in IE8. I think the positioning of Chrome saves a few millimeters of space that is used in the manufacture of tools bar slightly wider than the IE7.
The IE8 has a button to stop loading showing that the red cross icon at the end of the address bar. I could not find in Chrome. But it seems like a black cross just for a split second while loading the page that disappeared as soon as the page is loaded. The stop-icon still present in IE8 is redundant after the page is loaded. Chrome results! But lost in the panel down recently visited sites, which opens by clicking the arrow in IE8. There is no menu as in Chrome, but if you open a new tab in Chrome, thumbnails of recently visited sites appear on the screen. This feature has its own merit, but I like the combo of IE8′s address bar.
My Gmail account opened flawlessly in Chrome and I saw my inbox. My daughter sent me a photo as a JPEG file. I clicked on the download link and to my surprise, the normal window “open,” save “or” Cancel “does not appear. Nothing seemed to have occurred. But something stirred in the lower left corner of the screen. The browser downloads the file. It was incredibly fast and the 2 MB file was done in seconds! I clicked on the panel since it finished downloading and the image will open in a new window. There was no option to save it took me time to learn that Chrome had opened a new folder “Downloads” folder in my documents and saved downloads! For a quick reference of all downloads, there are links in the drop down menu under the spanner icon in the address bar. Chrome automatically saves the downloads so that IE8 offers options to “Open” or “Cancel” without having to save the file download. I discovered later that Chrome offers a change in the destiny of the upload through the options in the settings (wrench) menu.
The page “and” links IE tools are replaced with images emblematic of the page and key, respectively, in Chrome. However, the content is not the same! There are many characteristics common to most of them the same as previous versions of IE. There is a point of dwelling on them. The new functionality in both browsers is the ability to browse in secret, without a trace. In chromium, the so-called “Incognito Window” is under the menu page of chromium, and “InPrivate Browsing” from the “security” of IE8. This feature is an absolute necessity for Chrome, because its history is much more complete search terms in the sample, the time and date line for each site. It also displays the search tags and conditions of the site was visited! Unknown function can prevent the user from Chrome embarrassing moments. The IE8 has not a detailed history, day and sites, I must admit that IE8 is lagging behind in this aspect of Chrome.
I did not find the ease of use of off-line as in Chrome IE8. Installing IE8 of sending the page or email link is absent on Chrome. The windows and links related to facilities like blog with Windows Live, e-mail with Windows Mail, Windows Live translate, edit with MSO Front Page and the link to Windows Update does not appear in Chrome.
IE8 offers ease of use the keyboard to select parts of text or images for copying instead of using the mouse. It is a feature that allows browsing “Carot” in IE8 tools menu. This feature is not in Chrome. The IE8 offers a “Suggested Sites” feature. Here the IE8 has stolen a March on Chrome, despite the fact Google has an unmatched ability to find and remove sites linked to the current Web page.
The Chrome browser does not have a page zoom in the bottom right corner like the IE8. This expands the whole page not just text. But the basic text zooming with Ctrl + + + / Ctrl – feature in Chrome is as effective as the base functions, the menu mouse click “text size” in IE8.
In conclusion, the two new browsers IE8 and Chrome are quite able to navigate effectively. Is Chrome is faster? The IE8 is a very fast browser. This is not only a second to wait for it to load. But Chrome seems to be faster! Chrome has a latent charm and magnetic quality which has often attracted by clicking on the icon instead of chrome IE8 icon on my desktop. I think it’s the hypnotic magic of Google. But the number of features, it seems that the IE8 definitely scores on Chrome.
I looked in the dictionary of computing the word “chrome” and that is what I found:
Chrome: n. [From automotive slang via wargaming features showy] has been added to attract users but contributing little or nothing to the power of a system. “The 3D icons are due to chromium, but certainly _pretty_ chrome!” It differs from the bells and whistles by the fact that the latter are usually added to satisfy the desires of developers featurefulness own. Often used as a term of contempt.
Describe “the browser Chrome? It’s up to you!
